John Sinclair "Twenty
to Life"
|
|
John Sinclair is an American poet/performer,
music
journalist, marijuana activist, broadcaster and record
producer born 1941 in Flint, Michigan. TWENTY TO LIFE
investigates Sinclair’s life and times using archival
footage; interviews with family members, friends and
fellow activists; segments on the Detroit Artists
Workshop and MC5 band, the Detroit Riots of 1967, the
Democratic National Convention of 1968, the John
Sinclair Freedom Rally of December 1971 with John
Lennon, Allen Ginsberg & others; and performance
footage featuring Sinclair with his Blues Scholars,
the Ed Moss orchestra, and other ensembles from
1994-2002. A cutting-edge cultural activist with a
pronounced sense of humor and recent history, Sinclair
emerges as a compelling force against the cultural
landscape of his time. Soundtrack utilizes music by
Chuck Berry, Howlin’ Wolf, John Coltrane, Miles Davis,
John Lennon. Sly & the Family Stone and others,
with
selections by the MC5, Up, Sun Ra Arkestra and others
produced by Sinclair himself"
